The Story Behind A Build - Habitat for Humanity Anniversary

For the painting for Habitat for Humanity's Anniversary, I talked them into an oil painting on canvas rather than mural painted on the wall, so they could move it wherever they wished. This 8' x 4' canvas, took well over one hundred hours - a montage of a Habitat build in the light blue background with images of equipment, tools, blueprints, build slogans, etc.

Two dark blue panels held their mission statement and vision and values - my son-in-law cut the lettering in vinyl for me and I transferred it to the canvas.

Unfortunately, after the painting was presented to Habitat, vandals broke into their offices and spray painted racial slurs all over the walls, destroyed furniture and the painting was damaged. No spray paint thank goodness because it still had the plastic on it, but they did take a knife to it and put two or three slashes in it. The painting was repaired at the restorers.
